Liverpool coach Pepijn Lijnders says it’s a certainty the club will produce top-class players through their academy, he told the club’s official website.
The Merseyside outfit are renowned for bringing through quality youngsters, with graduates such as Michael Owen, Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard having all made their mark on the club’s recent history.
Speaking to the club’s official website on his position change, Lijnders says it’s a pleasure to work alongside Klopp, before assuring supporters the academy will forever produce top talent.
“There are not many certainties in the world but I'm certain Liverpool will produce top-class players,” the coach was quoted as saying.
Lijnders is also tasked with recommending which youth team players are ready to train with the first-team, with Ben Woodburn and Herbie Kane two names mentioned recently for stepping up.
It has been a good few years since the Reds brought through a youngster that has maintained his spot in the first-team, yet there is fresh hope with Jordan Rossiter and Jordon Ibe on the fringes.
The Europa League has so far been their best opportunity for games, though that could change soon as Klopp seeks an improvement in the club’s faltering Premier League form.
