Garth Crooks raves about Everton duo Gerard Deulofeu and Romelu Lukaku

Everton played out a 1-1 draw with West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks has written on BBC Sport that Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is back to his best.

Crooks, who played for Tottenham from 1980 to 1985, made the comments following the Toffees’ 1-1 draw with West Ham United away from home at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Belgium international Lukaku scored Everton’s goal in the 43rd minute of the game.

Former Tottenham forward Crooks was impressed with the 22-year-old former Chelsea youngster’s performances against West Ham and included him in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week.

“It's official - Everton striker Lukaku is back to his best again,” the Englishman wrote on BBC Sport. “His performances these past few weeks have been exceptional.”

Crooks was also impressed with the performance of 21-year-old Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu against West Ham and wrote on BBC Sport: “The ball he produced for Romelu Lukaku to score the equaliser against West Ham was exquisite.

“There is no doubt that Deulofeu is talented but it looks like he is adding a level of maturity and consistency to his performances.”

Lukaku has scored seven goals and created 13 chances in 12 Premier League appearances so far this season.

The Everton striker has a pass accuracy of 74% and a shot accuracy of 67%, and has won 29 headers, 17 dribbles and three tackles.

Deulofeu has scored one goal and created 11 chances in 10 Premier League matches so far this campaign.

The former Barcelona youngster has a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 100%, and has won 13 headers and five tackles.
