Brad Friedel opens up on Mauricio Pochettino’s training regime at Tottenham

Brad Friedel says that Tottenham Hotspur’s training sessions under Mauricio Pochettino were demanding.

Brad Friedel has told talkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur’s training sessions under head coach Mauricio Pochettino were demanding.

The former USA international goalkeeper was on the books of North London outfit Tottenham from 2011 to 2015.

The 44-year-old, who retired from professional football at the end of the 2014-15 season, has opened up on the training sessions conducted by Pochettino.

While speaking about the Argentine’s playing system, the former Liverpool and Aston Villa goalkeeper told talkSPORT: “It’s not an easy system to play in, I can tell you from personal experience that it’s not easy training every day.

“It’s very enjoyable but it’s physically demanding and you have to stay on top of everything, your physical fitness and mentality, but he’s done a very good job and long may it continue.”

Pochettino has been in charge of Tottenham since the summer of 2014 and has done a remarkable job at White Hart Lane.

Spurs ended up fifth in the Premier League table last season and are on course for a top-four finish this term.

The high-pressing game that Pochettino’s team play is a direct result of the hard work that the players put in training on a daily basis.

Tottenham have a number of quality young players, such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier, and it seems that all of them have bought into the former Espanyol coach’s philosophy.
