Tom Rogic lauds Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton

Celtic's Nir Bitton has been one of their stand-out performers so far this season.

Tom Rogic has described Celtic teammate Nir Bitton as a ‘real class act’ in the Glasgow Evening Times.

Bitton has been at the centre of everything good the Bhoys have done this season, and he has become a key part of Ronny Deila’s team.

The Israel international has impressed with his combative tackling, and wonderful passing, and Rogic is delighted that the central-midfielder has recently signed a new contract.

“I think we were all delighted with the news that he has signed a new contract here because he has been excellent for a long time,” Rogic said. “He is a real class act.

“I am a different kind of player to Nir but there are some similarities. He had to wait a little before getting into the team and staying there and he showed what some hard graft can do.

“He has been phenomenal for us. He is always so composed on the ball, very rarely gets flustered and he has an eye for a goal. There is no doubt that he is a great example to all of us. He is just a young guy as well and he will only get better.”

Bitton has arguably been the biggest beneficiary of Deila’s management at Parkhead, as he has made such vast progress in the past two seasons.

The 24-year-old was on the periphery of the team when Deila arrived, but he is now arguably the Bhoys’ star player.

Rogic will be hoping that he can make a similar progression, as he has come back in from the cold this term.

The Australian international joined Celtic in 2013, but barely played for them in his first two seasons at Parkhead, with fitness issues plaguing his progress.

However, Rogic has come into starting contention this season, and he has impressed by scoring five times in 17 appearances.
