Lukaku netted Everton’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw with West Ham at the weekend.
And Howard has said that as soon as the 22-year-old got in on goal there was no doubting that he would hit the back of the net.
“I was looking straight down the move from the other end of it and it was a brilliant disguised pass from Deulofeu and Romelu got himself pinned up against the centre-halves and then he went through and did the business,” he said to the Liverpool Echo.
“Once we get Romelu clean through we know it will be a goal.”
Howard’s comments sum up the confidence that is felt around Goodison Park when Lukaku is given an opportunity nowadays.
The Belgium international forward has been in wonderful form this season, and he has already scored nine times in his first 15 appearances.
Lukaku is on course to have the most productive campaign of his career to date, if he keeps this form up, and he is developing into one of the Premier League’s leading marksmen.
Lukaku will hope to continue his scoring form when Everton return to action after the international break, with a match against Aston Villa.
