Report: Sunderland to have £20 million to spend in the January transfer window

Sunderland want three new players to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce will be given £20 million to spend in the January transfer window to improve his squad.

The Black Cats have made a poor start to their campaign, and they are currently lodged in the relegation zone.

There is a realisation from the club that they need to increase the quality of the options available to Allardyce, and Sunderland’s board are planning to invest in the new year.

Sunderland are said to already be talking to potential targets, as they make plans to bring in some talent to freshen up their squad.

Allardyce reportedly wants to bring in three new players, with Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin high on his list of targets.

The 60-year-old believes Austin could score the goals required to fire Sunderland up the table, and the North East outfit are already plotting to bid for the front-man.

Sunderland are currently in 19th place in the Premier League standings, meaning that whoever they bring in during the January transfer window will be required to hit the ground running.
