Report: Cardiff and Reading join race for Leeds target Liam Bridcutt

Cardiff City, Reading and Leeds United are reportedly interested in Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt.

Cardiff City and Reading are interested in signing Liam Bridcutt from Sunderland, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that the Championship duo want to sign the defensive midfielder on loan.

Leeds are also keen on securing the services of the 26-year-old Scotsman, with head coach Steve Evans telling The Yorkshire Evening Post: “I spoke to Liam on Friday and the conversation went extremely well.”

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Bridcutt and Sunderland are weighing up his best option.

Good move for Leeds United?

Bridcutt is not a bad player, but he is struggling to get into the Sunderland team at the moment.

The 26-year-old appears to have failed to make his mark in the Premier League, but he is a proven Championship player.

The former Chelsea prospect was successful during his spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, and one can understand why Leeds boss Evans wants to sign him.

The Whites do need someone in defensive midfield, and Bridgett would be a valuable addition to the squad.

Leeds, who have won their last two league matches, are 15th in the Championship table at the moment with 19 points from 16 matches, six points above the relegation zone.
