Crystal Palace beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in their most recent fixture.
The Eagles have won four of their first six away games this term, and they beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in their latest outing.
Thompson believes that this impressive record on their travels is due to the pace that they have in attacking areas, which makes them such a threat on the counter.
“You see this Crystal Palace side now and there is no fear in them,” Thompson said.
“Why have they got such a good away record? Because they have blistering pace. With [Wilfried] Zaha, [Yannick] Bolasie and [Bakary] Sako they have players who can take the game quickly.
"At set-plays they always pose a threat too.
“This Crystal Palace side are exciting, and with this pace on the counter attack they’re fantastic.”
Palace put in a brilliant performance against Liverpool yesterday, and they fully deserved their three points.
Alan Pardew’s side got forward with pace and invention, while they remained very secure at the back throughout the contest.
Palace took the lead through Bolasie, before Scott Dann’s 82nd minute header secured their victory on Merseyside.
The win has lifted Palace up to eighth place in the Premier League table, and their next match comes against Sunderland after the international break.
