Martyn Waghorn made it 17 goals for the season during Rangers' 4-0 win over Alloa Athletic.

Rangers hit back after their 2-1 defeat at Hibernian last week by thrashing Alloa Athletic 4-0 at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.

Mark Warburton's men suffered their first league defeat of the season at Hibs, and had to show their title credentials by bouncing back against Alloa Athletic - and that's just what they did.

Martyn Waghorn put Rangers in front early on, and after James Tavernier hammered home another superb free kick, Waghorn scored his second volley of the day to make it 3-0 before half time.

Substitute Nicky Clark then came off the bench to add a fourth, and that's how it finished as Rangers coasted to a 4-0 victory at Ibrox.

It was a vital win for Rangers, and there is no surprise over who took most of the plaudits, with Waghorn stealing the show having scored twice.

His 16th and 17th goals of the season were met with approval from Rangers fans, who even joked that he is better than Celtic's Leigh Griffiths.

Other compared him to former Ibrox heroes, and their love for Waghorn was clear as some stated that he was becoming their favourite player following his summer move from Wigan Athletic.
