Aston Villa fans react to Garde's debut, rave about summer signing Jordan Veretout

Aston Villa drew 0-0 against Manchester City in Remi Garde's first game in charge.

Aston Villa kicked off the Remi Garde era with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against title candidates Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Frenchman Garde, 49, was appointed Villa manager a week ago, and took charge of the club for the first time against Manuel Pellegrini's City at Villa Park.

Villa looked far more organised than they did under former boss Tim Sherwood, but they did ride their luck at times as Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernando all missed clear chances from close range.

Ultimately though, Villa earned their point through hard work and determination, giving the club a strong platform to build on under new manager Garde.

One of the key performers for Villa was midfielder Jordan Veretout, who came in from the cold to play against City, with French boss Garde no doubt familiar with the former Nantes star.

Veretout enjoyed a strong game having been given limited playing time under Tim Sherwood, and fans were very complimentary about his performance on Twitter.

After the game, Villa fans took to Twitter in order to praise Garde for his tactics against City as well as rave about midfielder Veretout, with both Frenchman earning plenty of plaudits.

Here are some of the reactions from Villa fans after Garde's debut and Veretout's performance against Manchester City...
