Crystal Palace beat Liverpool 2-1 in their last Premier League match.
The Eagles are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table, and they beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in their most recent outing.
However, Pardew doesn’t feel that his group knows just how much talent they have in their ranks – and he believes this is holding back their progress.
"I said to the players afterwards that the problem with this team is it doesn't trust how good it can be,” he said.
"We proved that when we backed off yesterday, but when we went toe-to-toe, I thought it was an even contest.
"This was the last game in a series of games which was a goal for us and we needed three points to achieve that goal.
"We are kind of on target for what we think we are going to get. I did promise an extra day off if the players reached their target and maybe that played more of a part!"
Palace actually went into their match against Liverpool having failed to win any of their last four matches, but they confirmed their quality on Merseyside.
Pardew’s side were a constant threat and they fully deserved the three points they collected, after Scott Dann netted a late header.
Palace’s win has reignited hopes that the London outfit could make a push for a European place this season, after an excellent start.
Palace are only five points away from the top-four, and they return to action, after the international break, with a winnable match against struggling Sunderland side.
