16-year-old West Brom player Jonathan Leko scores again for U18s

West Brom - The Hawthorns

The West Bromwich Albion teenager just keeps scoring.

West Bromwich Albion youngster Jonathan Leko is making quite a name for himself in the Baggies’ under-18 side, and on Saturday he added another goal to his tally in a 2-1 victory against Newcastle United’s youngsters.

West Brom’s senior players were unable to get a win of their own as they lost a hard-fought match against Manchester United at Old Trafford, but there were plenty of reasons to be positive, just as there are when it comes to Leko’s development.

A month ago the 16-year-old scored a wonderful solo goal against Blackburn Rovers’ under-18s, collecting the ball 30 yards out before beating four opposing defenders and firing into the top corner.

This weekend Leko’s effort was not as exciting but equally important as his strike, along with one from Rahis Nabi, secured a 2-1 win against the Magpies.

This time Leko drove in powerfully from the edge of the box and at this rate it may not be too long before he adds to his single first-team appearance for West Brom, which came in the Capital One Cup against Norwich City back in September.
