With Son Heung-min back fit again, Mauricio Pochettino has a choice to make.
Tottenham enter today’s North London derby against local rivals Arsenal full of confidence and on a strong run of recent performances and results.
One of the driving forces behind the White Hart Lane outfit’s march up the Premier League table of late has been the form of Mousa Dembele, who has finally started to show his best for the Lilywhites.
The Belgium international has found his niche in the number ten role behind Harry Kane and has even scored goals against Bournemouth and Anderlecht of late.
However, despite Demeble getting the winner on Thursday and playing well, there is a real case to suggest that the former Fulham man should start on the bench at the Emirates Stadium.
Son Heung-min made a substitute appearance for the London club against Anderlecht and will now be in direct competition with Dembele for the number ten role.
Although the Belgian has shown his abilities in recent weeks, the South Korean has been signed to play in the supporting striker role and looks like a much more-rounded option to fit into the Spurs starting XI.
Before getting injured Son was amongst the goals, linking up well with Kane and Christian Eriksen and looked like a real revelation for Pcohettino’s side.
With Spurs likely to have to soak up pressure today against the Gunners and having the chance to strike on the break, Son’s pace and penetration could well be decisive and would be a better option in the number ten role than Dembele, who can be guilty of indecision and holding onto the ball too long.
