Reports: Tottenham lower Townsend valuation to £8m, West Ham interested

The frustrated Tottenham winger is reportedly the subject of interest from West Ham.

Tottenham Hotspur are willing to lower their valuation of Andros Townsend to £8 million in order to sell the 24-year-old winger in January, according to the Sunday People.

Townsend is currently out of favour at White Hart Lane and the People suggest the north London side had previously rated him at £13m.

Spurs are now reportedly prepared to do business for less, however, and the Daily Star suggest West Ham United are interested in acquiring his services.

Indeed, it certainly seems to be last-chance saloon territory for Townsend at Tottenham.

And the 24-year-old would be lucky to land a club like West Ham if they are genuinely interested.

A host of Premier League sides have been linked with interest in the winger but the Hammers are arguably the most high profile - and they are definitely the highest in the league table.

Do West Ham need Townsend? It's very unlikely he'll succeed there but they do lack width. And they probably need him more than Tottenham do right now, hence the wide man's frustrations at his lack of playing time.
