According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United could lose Daryl Janmaat in the next 12 months, unless their form improves.
Janmaat’s representatives are reportedly keen to move the defender on, as they want him to play at a higher level.
The Dutch full-back has proven to be one of the Magpies’ best performers since signing for the club in the summer of 2014, but the club’s ambitions apparently do not match his own.
Newcastle have struggled against relegation for much of the time Janmaat has spent at St. James Park, and the defender is keen to play at a higher level than that.
If Janmaat does leave Newcastle it would be a huge blow for the club, as he has become a fans’ favourite and impressed with his tireless effort.
Janmaat’s never-say-die attitude has caught the eye, while he has also been very consistent during his time on Tyneside.
The 26-year-old has proven to be a threat going forward and solid defensively, and he would be very tough to replace if he did leave Newcastle.
