Ray Wilkins suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning that new Aston Villa manager Remi Garde should use Rudy Gestede.
“Rudy is a real handful for everybody and sometimes you have to really cut you cloth accordingly,” said the former Villa assistant manager.
“It might be advisable to forgo a little bit of football, get it (the ball) into him and cause people problems. He is a fantastic header of the ball and he will score goals.”
Gestede joined Villa from Championship club Blackburn Rovers in the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old was one of the best strikers in the Championship last season, scoring 19 goals and creating 43 chances in 39 appearances.
The Benin international has struggled to replicate that form in the Premier League so far this campaign.
The former Cardiff City man has scored three goals and created two chances in 11 league matches so far this term.
Gestede has a pass accuracy of 55% and a shot accuracy of 32%, and has won 83 headers, three dribbles and five tackles.
Villa will take on Manchester City at Villa Park in the Premier League later today. The Villans are at the foot of the league table at the moment.
