Noel Whelan explains what impressed him the most about Leeds

Leeds United defeated Huddersfield Town 3-0 in the Championship on Saturday.

Noel Whelan explained on BBC Sport what impressed him the most about Leeds United’s performance against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds made it back-to-back wins in the Championship with a 3-0 triumph over Huddersfield away from home at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The match was effectively over as a contest in the 54th minute when Alex Mowatt scored the Whites’ third goal, but the players continued to push forward and give their all until full time.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was impressed with this attitude and said on BBC Sport: “This is what you want to see.

“Ninety minutes almost gone in the game and they're still putting in the same amount of effort. They've kept the effort and tempo going all game.”

The former Derby County man added: “Everyone has done their job to a level we expect from Leeds players.

“They are the ones that raised the bar against Cardiff and they managed to do it again today.”

Over the course of the 90 minutes at the John Smith’s Stadium, visitors Leeds had 37% of the possession, took eight shots of which four were on target, and earned six corners.

Steve Evans’s side are 15th in the Championship table at the moment with 19 points from 16 matches, six points above the relegation zone.

After the two-week international break, Leeds will take on Rotherham United at Elland Road in the league.
