Aston Villa managed to draw 0-0 with Manchester City in Remi Garde's first match.
Jason Roberts has praised Aston Villa’s first performance under Remi Garde after they picked up a 0-0 draw against Manchester City.
Although the Claret and Blues were not able to get a victory in their new manager’s maiden match in the dug out, they still put in a heartening dislay.
Roberts was particularly impressed by Jordan Veretout, who came into the team and put in an excellent performance in midfield.
Strong performance from Villa today credit to the players and the new manager..Veretout in particular has been different class.. #avfcvmcfc— Jason Roberts (@JasonRoberts30) November 8, 2015
Garde made several changes to Villa’s starting line-up for the fixture against City, as he looked to stamp his authority on the side.
A number of their summer signings came back into the first-team, and the initial signs were very promising.
Villa looked well organised throughout the contest, and they also created a fair few chances of their own.
The draw still doesn’t lift Villa out of the relegation zone, but it does move them slightly closer to safety, and there is plenty of reason for optimism for the future.
