Wolverhampton Wanderers drew 0-0 with Burnley at Molineux yesterday.
Carl Ikeme has thanked Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters for the reception they gave him after he came on as a second-half substitute against Burnley.
Ikeme replaced Emiliano Martinez midway through the second-half, after the Arsenal loanee picked up an injury, and he was given a great ovation.
It meant a lot to the goalkeeper, who has rather surprisingly found his first-team chances limited so far this season.
Thank you for the reception from everyone when coming on today !! Was good to see you all again Much appreciated Thanks again !!— Carl Ikeme (@Carl_Ikeme) November 7, 2015
Ikeme has played a key part of Wolves’ for the past few seasons, but Kenny Jackett decided to bring in Martinez over the summer, to strengthen his options in goal.
So far Martinez has generally been utilised as the number one stopper at Molineux, but Wolves fans were pleased to see Ikeme back yesterday.
Ikeme helped his side pick up a credible draw against an in-form Burnley side, and kept a clean-sheet in the process.
He will now be hoping to earn his place in the team back, as Wolves try to close the gap on the teams in the play-off places.
Ikeme was not the only Wolves player to react on social media site Twitter after the game, with Dave Edwards also posting his reaction to the 0-0 draw.
