And that simple joke summed up Newcastle's performance against the Cherries.
Indeed, while it was the Magpies that left with a 1-0 win and all three points, Bournemouth dominated proceedings.
Their failings in front of goal let them down and, for the most part, their goalkeeper Federici was absolutely uninvolved as the hosts virtually camped in Newcastle's half.
While covering the game for BBC Football, Butcher joked: "Federici may as well get his deckchair out."
He continued: "Newcastle have defended doggedly and Rob Elliot has been superb in goal. They were unlucky against Stoke last week and this time it was their turn to snatch something from a game. Bournemouth were unbelievable but they've lost the game - they can't believe it."
Newcastle host Leicester City in their next Premier League clash and will likely need a much-improved display against Claudio Ranieri's Foxes.
Steve McClaren would no doubt much rather play badly and win than play well and lose, though, especially as the St James' Park outfit now reside out of the relegation zone - an absolute rarity for Newcastle these days.
But Bournemouth can certainly count themselves unlucky. Eddie Howe's men need to sort out their woes in the final third or their season could be over very soon.
