Villa will be playing their first game under newly-appointed boss Remi Garde and there is fresh optimism that the former Lyon manager can get their attacking players to click.
However, City have been in superb form of late, and they demonstrated their capabilities by beating a previously undefeated Sevilla side 3-1 in the Champions League in Spain during midweek.
City will be hopeful of getting three points at Villa Park, and Savage sees no reason why they shouldn’t as he backs an away win with De Bruyne to get on the scoresheet.
“It’s a tale of two teams, Villa are rock bottom. Remi Garde has come in and it might have a positive effect on some of the players, they have a lot of French players at Aston Villa,” Savage said.
“But can he stop the rot? No, he can’t because Manchester City are on fire. They went to Sevilla and absolutely battered them. De Bruyne will be fit, he will get a goal and City will win to nil.”
Kevin de Bruyne to get on the scoresheet?
Many people raised questions when the Citizens shelled out big money to bring in Kevin de Bruyne, yet his performances so far have gone some way to justifying such a fee.
The Belgium international has scored three and added a further four assists in just six league starts.
Villa will have to put in a superb defensive performance if they are to prevent City from scoring past them on Sunday, and with confidence so low, it will be an uphill task for new boss Remi Garde.
