Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Ray Wilkins said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning that Queens Park Rangers can challenge for promotion this season.
"There are so many games in there so they have got an opportunity to put a proper run together. It is feasible. There are lots of games to go."
QPR are 13th in the Championship table at the moment with 19 points from 15 matches.
Rangers are six points behind Birmingham City, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.
The London outfit have a good team and there is a long way to go this season.
A top-six finish is certainly possible, but in all likelihood QPR will have to settle for a playoff spot.
Current league leaders Hull are as many as 12 points ahead of Rangers, while fifth-place Derby County are 11 points ahead of them.
QPR, who lost to Derby 1-0 away from home at the iPro Stadium on Tuesday, will take on Preston North End at Loftus Road in the Championship this afternoon.
