Leeds United legend Ian Harte has bestowed the highest praise possible on current midfielder Alex Mowatt, who netted a spectacular goal in the weekend win over Huddersfield Town.
Harte was a studio guest on Football on 5, Channel 5's Football League highlights show, broadcast on Saturday evening on November 7.
He was a player who had a habit of scoring eye catching goals himself, and said that Mowatt's goal was one he would have liked to have scored for the club.
Harte said: "It was was pretty special, a goal I would have been proud of myself. [It had] great technique. The 'keeper had no chance."
The long range effort put a seal on Leeds United's 3-0 away win over the Terriers, and was the second impressive goal he had scored in a week.
Mowatt netted the winner on Tuesday night against Cardiff City, and his return to form has easily been the biggest plus point in Steve Evans short reign as head coach so far.
Still just 20-years-old, the way Mowatt has come out of his early season slump in form suggests a bright future is ahead for the England youth international.
His confidence will be further boosted if he hears of Harte's kind words, a player that as a young Leeds fan he would have grown up idolising.
