Leeds United were beaten 2-0 by Blackburn Rovers on Thursday of last week.
Blackburn were the visitors to Elland Road last week, and they were never threatened in a match that they won 2-0.
Leeds’ performance in the fixture was pretty dreadful, and Byram says that all of their players were determined to respond by putting in a much improved display against Cardiff City.
They managed to meet their objective, too, as they beat Cardiff 1-0 in their latest outing – and Byram feels that there were plenty of positives to take from that result.
“After the game [against Blackburn] in the changing room everyone was really down,” he revealed. “We made sure that we were not going to put in another performance like that.
“Our work ethic was 10 times better against Cardiff, and you can see from the running that some of the players did that that made a real difference.”
Leeds’ win over Cardiff was their first home victory of the season, and they will be looking to build on that three points now as their campaign has been a disappointing one to date.
The Whites have not won back-to-back games all season, and they are currently sat in 17th place in the Championship table, just six points above the drop zone.
Leeds’ next match comes against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, and that promises to be a fiercely-contested Yorkshire derby between two teams who have performed below expectations so far.
