Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burton Albion are reportedly interested in Newcastle United forward Ivan Toney.

Newcastle United forward Ivan Toney has told The Shields Gazette that head coach Steve McClaren will have the final say on his future.

According to The Shields Gazette, Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers and League One outfit Burton Albion Burton Albion are interested in signing the 19-year-old on an emergency loan.

“I’m just happy playing football whether it’s here or on loan,” Toney told The Shields Gazette. “Whatever the manager decides, then so be it.

“I’ve just got to enjoy playing football, wherever it is. I’m not fussed where it is as long as I’m playing and scoring goals. That’s all that matters.”

Toney is a promising young player who joined Premier League side Newcastle from League Two outfit Northampton Town in the summer transfer window.

The teenager was not really expected to play regularly for the Magpies this season, as he is one for the future.

Nevertheless, the 19-year-old has made three appearances for the Newcastle first team so far this season.

It would make sense if McClaren decides to send Toney out on loan to a lower league in order to help him get some playing time.

Although the youngster has been playing for the Newcastle Under-21 side, featuring in the Championship or League One will allow him to develop in a more competitive environment.
