Could the Valencia forward really be on his way to Tottenham Hotspur on loan?

According to a recent report from Yahoo Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo on a short-term loan deal in January.

The 30-year-old only joined Los Che on a permanent basis from Manchester City over the summer, but he has fallen out of favour in recent weeks, not being named in the match-day squad for their last three matches despite being fit and available.

Negredo scored 23 goals in 49 matches for City following his arrival in 2013, but with the likes of Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko ahead of him in the pecking order, he was deemed surplus to requirements and allowed to move on, initially on loan. So what chance him moving to Tottenham?

With Harry Kane still bearing the brunt of goal-scoring responsibility – at least until Heung-Min Son and Clinton N’Jie both get their feet under the table at White Hart Lane – signing Negredo on loan would be a shrewd piece of business by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
