Leeds United defeated Cardiff City 1-0 at Elland Road in the Championship on Tuesday evening.
Leeds United head coach Steve Evans explained on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning what Massimo Cellino blessing the Elland Road pitch shows about him.
Prior to Leeds’s Championship game against Cardiff City at home on Tuesday evening, club owner Cellino had the pitch at Elland Road blessed.
Monsignor Philip Moger of St Anne's Cathedral blessed the centre circle and the dressing room with holy water at the request of Cellino.
It was done in order to turn the West Yorkshire outfit’s fortunes at home - they had not won at Elland Road in almost eight months.
Leeds won on Tuesday evening, defeating Cardiff 1-0 thanks to an Alex Mowatt strike.
When asked on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning if the blessing of the pitch played a role in the Whites’ win, Evans said: “If it played a part, then we should do it next week…
"It is just another sign of the passion he (Cellino) has. He wants to win football matches.”
Leeds are 17th in the Championship table at the moment with 16 points from 15 matches, six points above the relegation zone.
