Report: Norwich City plan January move for Tom Lees

Norwich City are keen on signing Sheffield Wednesday man Lees in January.

Norwich have found defending in the Premier League extremely tough this season, and a report in the Daily Mail claims that Alex Neil has already decided upon which player he wants to sign in January to improve their defensive record.

Tom Lees of Sheffield Wednesday has been targeted by Neil ahead of the January transfer window, with the 24-year-old considered one of the best central defenders in the Championship.

The Owls are unbeaten in 11 games with Lees at the centre of their promotion push, and he and defensive partner Glen Loovens have kept an incredible record of 17 clean sheets in just 36 games.

Lees has found himself a prime target for a number of clubs since joining Wednesday from Leeds in the summer of 2014, with Bristol City and Fulham both wanting him before the start of this season.

The Canaries have conceded 23 goals in just 11 games, and they see Lees as a player who can immediately improve their back-line, whilst growing into a truly top class players in the coming years.

Wednesday have no real intentions to sell whilst they are in the search for promotion to the Premier League, and the report claims that they will review their stance on Lees’ future in January dependant upon their league position and the size of Norwich’s bid.
