Sunderland will take on Southampton at home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Sunderland players were training today ahead of Saturday afternoon’s Premier League clash against Southampton at home.

Sunderland will head into the game at the Stadium of Light on the back of a 6-2 defeat to Everton away from home at Goodison Park.

The Black Cats are struggling at the moment and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Sam Allardyce’s side are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with just six points from 11 matches, two points behind 17th-place Bournemouth.

Defensively Sunderland have been poor all season, having conceded as many as 25 goals - more than any other side in the Premier League.

The Black Cats have also failed to score regularly, having managed only 13 goals in 11 matches.

During today’s training sessions, strikers Jermain Defoe, Fabio Borini and Danny Graham were practising shooting under the watchful eyes of manager Allardyce.
