Gallery: Willian strike puts Chelsea on course for qualification, and brings Mourinho relief

Chelsea's win over Dynamo Kiev relieves the pressure on Mourinho and moves them into pole position to qualify from their Champions League group.

It was a huge night for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as the pressure lifted a little on their manager Jose Mourinho, and they managed to put themselves in a strong position to qualify from Group G, with a 2-1 win over Dynamo Kiev lifting them up to second with two games remaining.

With the side sitting in 15th in the Premier League table after a wretched start, along with being dumped out of the League Cup, this is very much a welcome win for the Blues boss. They took the lead 10 minutes before half time when Kiev defender Aleksandar Dragovic headed past his own goalkeeper.

It looked as if making amends with a header at the right end, as the game headed into the last 15 minutes, may have piled more pressure on Mourinho, but the home side responded in a way they haven't in recent weeks by not letting the equaliser affect them, as Willian's wonderful free-kick seven minutes from the end proved to be enough to win the game.

It may not have been the most impressive performance, but the result, and the manner in which they got it after being pegged back, is certainly something to build on, with the side now strong favourites to qualify with contests against Maccabi Tel Aviv and Porto to come.
