The Reds head to Russia looking to secure all three points for the first time in the Europa League this season, having drawn their opening three games in the competition.
They travel in good form, as they remain unbeaten under Jurgen Klopp and have confidence riding high on the back of beating Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League last time out.
That victory has given them momentum after a slow start to the campaign, and Coutinho is keen to see them build on that on Thursday evening.
“We can see our confidence is increasing every day,” he told liverpoolfc.com.
“It’s a big game and we’ve been working this week to prepare well for the match. Battling it out with the top teams in the league, playing in the competitions we’re in. For us as a team, it’s very important we try to maintain our momentum.”
However, the midfielder is under no illusions that he and his side will face a tough test in the game in Russia.
The Reds were expected to easily overcome the Russians when they visited Anfield back in October, but found that wasn’t the case as the visitors took a shock lead and then held the home side at bay after the tie was levelled up.
And Coutinho says that they consider this to be a very difficult contest.
“Every team is difficult to play against,” he added.
“All teams have good players, all matches are very intense, so we consider this a very difficult game. But we need to be focused and do what the manager asks us to this week so we can be successful on the pitch.”
