Wednesday have managed to snap up the striker until January, as they look to increase the threat they pose in their attacking ranks.
And Hughton, who worked with Hooper at Norwich City earlier in their respective careers, claims that the former Celtic man will guarantee goals at Hillsborough.
“He’s a good signing and is player who will certainly score goals at this level,” he said. “A fit Gary Hooper will always score goals.”
Hooper is yet to really get going at Wednesday, with Carlos Carvalhal clearly reluctant to throw the 27-year-old in too quickly.
So far Hooper has made just one substitute appearance for Wednesday, but he will be hoping to make an impact as the season progresses.
There is great excitement over Hooper’s arrival at Hillsborough, as he is a proven goalscorer in the Football League.
However, breaking into an Owls team which are now unbeaten in 11 games was always going to be a tough ask, and it may be that the front-man has to be patient as he waits for his opportunity to impress.
