Not a single member of the Leeds squad was born the last time Leeds defeated Cardiff.
Leeds United have finally won a game at Elland Road and also picked up their first triumph under the supervision of Steve Evans.
It was also their first win against Cardiff City in a very long time. The club have not defeated the Bluebirds since 1984 and that brings up a startling fact as pointed out by Yorkshire Post journalist Lee Sobot on Twitter. Not a single player in the Leeds United matchday squad was born when Leeds defeated Cardiff 1-0 in the old Division Two. That run has stretched 17 games and 31 years.
Leeds's oldest squad member for the game last night was Mirco Antenucci. He was born three months after the last time Leeds defeated Cardiff City which surely highlights the real youth in this Leeds squad.
The likes of Lewis Cook, Liam Cooper and Chris Wood are still young and have plenty of opportunity to grow whilst Alex Mowatt, just 20-years-old, was the man who scored a fantastic strike to win the game at Elland Road last night.
But it also goes to show that Leeds could still do with a few more old hands in the Elland Road dressing room.
