Ronny Deila aiming to build Celtic's team around Nir Bitton

Nir Bitton has penned a contract which will keep him at Celtic until 2020.

Ronny Deila has told STV that he wants to build his Celtic team around the talents of Nir Bitton.

The Israeli midfielder has been one of the Bhoys’ most consistent performers over the past two seasons, and he was rewarded with a new deal earlier this week.

Bitton has committed his future to Celtic until 2020, and Deila has big plans for the 24-year-old at Parkhead.

"He’s an important player, that’s why we wanted to give him a new contract and why he wanted to stay here," Deila said.

"His career is going the right way, he’s a player that has experience and skills that we can build a great team around and will make us even more successful.”

Bitton’s commitment to Celtic was good news, as his fine form has seen interest mount in his services.

The Evening Times carried a report in October of Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder, with Premier League clubs starting to take note of his talents.

Celtic clearly have no desire of letting Bitton go, though, and they will hope that he can continue on his current development curve.

Bitton was actually a rotational player before Deila arrived, but the Norwegian boss has got the very best out of him, and he now plays a key role for the Glasgow giants.

With Deila promising to build a team around his qualities, Bitton should feel perfectly at home at Celtic, and it seems that his future at the Scottish Premiership champions is very bright.
