Report: Watford end interest in Emmanuel Adebayor, Brazil comes calling

Emmanuel Adebayor

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has proved to expensive for the Hornets.

On Monday it was reported that Watford would be looking into the possibility of signing Emmanuel Adebayor on a free transfer.

The Daily Mail reported that Quique Sanchez Flores was keen on the former Tottenham Hotspur striker, who could join up with the club from January 1st.

The deal was helped by Adebayor's apparent preference to remain in English football and with a club in the London area.

But Tutto Mercato Web have reported that no deal will be happening regarding Adebayor and Watford.

The club's Italian owners reached out to Adebayor about joining the club but upon hearing his apparent wage demands balked at the idea of bringing him in to Vicarage Road.

The report claims that Adebayor is now vetting interest from Brazil.

Adebayor was finally released by Tottenham Hotspur in September. The Togo striker had been told by Mauricio Pochettino that his services were no longer required at White Hart Lane – but failed to negotiate a move away from the club during the transfer window.

His release allows him to find a new club to begin his recovery from his Tottenham spell, but not a Premier League club just yet. As Adebayor was still registered as a Tottenham player when the transfer window shut, he cannot join another Premier League team until January - but that will not be Watford.
