Doubts over the future of the Inter captain have surfaced in recent weeks.
The 22-year old enjoyed a fantastic campaign last year, scoring 22 in 36 league games, and has garnered admiring glances from across Europe, with the likes of Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea included in those.
He hasn’t had it all his own way this term however, and was dropped by Roberto Mancini for the recent clash with Roma, leading some to speculate whether his future lay away from the San Siro.
The report claims a fee of around £25 million would be required to prise Icardi away and given the mixed success of Spurs’ last big-money Argentine purchase from Serie A, they may have slight reservations.
Spurs have been in excellent form this season but there remains doubts over how well they would cope with the loss of Harry Kane, with no direct alternatives available.
Clinton N’Jie and Heung-Min Son have both put decent shifts in through the middle but remain emergency options and Mauricio Pochettino may well look to strengthen his frontline when the transfer window re-opens.
