According to the Daily Mirror, new Aston Villa boss Remi Garde is a big fan of Joe Cole, and will consider bringing him back from his loan spell at Coventry City.
Garde, 49, was appointed Villa boss on Monday evening following the departure of Tim Sherwood, and was in attendance at White Hart Lane as Villa lost 3-1 to Tottenham.
Villa remain bottom of the Premier League table with just one win to their name this season, and Garde has a huge job on his hands as he looks to avoid relegation.
Garde will be assessing his squad ahead of this weekend's game against Manchester City, but he seemingly has pre-existing views on one Villa player.
Midfielder Joe Cole had been frozen out under Sherwood, and subsequently left Villa Park to join League One side Coventry City on loan.
Now though, Cole could be handed a shock Villa lifeline, with The Mirror reporting that Garde is a huge fan of the former England international.
The report states that Garde wanted to sign Cole during his time as Lyon boss, and the 33-year-old could now be recalled to Villa Park to finally work alongside Frenchman Garde.
It would be a shock return from the cold for Cole, after many believed that his Villa career was over having joined Coventry - but he may have one last chance to impress under Garde this season.
