Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning a main reason behind Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend’s frustrations.
England international Townsend has been making the headlines for the past couple of days for his row with physio Nathan Gardiner on Monday night.
After the match, Townsend was pictured pushing and arguing with Gardiner on the pitch.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour has suggested that not playing regularly in a big Spurs squad is a reason behind the Englishman’s frustrations.
"The problem you have is that there are so many big squads now," said Parlour on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning. "You have to have these squads because of the injury list."
Townsend has been a peripheral figure at Tottenham so far this season.
The Englishman has been able to make just three appearances in the Premier League and three in the Europa League.
During the 2014-15 campaign, Townsend played seven times in the Europa League and 17 times in the Premier League.
