Myhill has stepped in to replace Ben Foster in the Baggies’ net this season, after the England international picked up a serious injury towards the back end of the 2014/15 campaign.
And Myhill, despite not having a regular run of games in recent years, has been excellent – leading to Thompson speaking very highly of him.
“He’s made some great saves,” the former Liverpool man said. “He seems to be enjoying his time in between the sticks. He’s been exceptional, but it’s also those guys around him too.
“There’s a physical presence around this side. They know their limitations and they don’t push up too high.
“The keeper is on form and their defenders are on form. They just have to keep nicking goals. They’re in a good position.”
Foster’s injury was predicted to be a big blow for West Brom this season, as he is such an important player for them.
However, Myhill has earned the Baggies fans' trust, and it means that Foster is no longer guaranteed to win his place back when he does return.
At the moment, Foster is predicted to make his return next month, but West Brom are under no pressure to rush him back to fitness.
With Myhill in goal, Tony Pulis’ side have conceded just 14 times in their opening 11 Premier League matches, and they have climbed into 12th spot as a result of their defensive solidity.
