Finnish striker Mauro Severino is allegedly on trial at Newcastle.
Finnish teenager Mauro Severino has taken to Twitter to talk about his pride having scored a hat-trick during his trial with the Newcastle youth setup.
The Magpies have endured a tough start to the Premier League season with just one victory to their name, and manager Steve McClaren will almost certainly be looking to strengthen his squad in January.
Most fans will be focusing on first-team additions, but it appears that Newcastle are looking at potential youth team additions as they look to produce stars of the future.
The likes of Kevin Mbabu and Adam Armstrong are tipped for bright futures, whilst Newcastle showed their commitment to signing young players by snapping up Ivan Toney from Northampton Town over the summer.
Now though, it appears that the Magpies are looking at Finnish teenager Mauro Severino, with the striker on trial from Finnish outfit TPV, as confirmed by Ilta-Sanomat journalist Peter Lahti on Twitter earlier this week.
Severino, 16, seemingly played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackpool Under-18's on Tuesday, and he did his chances of winning a deal with Newcastle no harm by scoring a hat-trick, with the forward taking to Twitter after the game to celebrate his performance.
It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will act by signing Severino to a permanent deal, but they have little to lose by keeping him at St. James' Park, especially after he proved his goalscoring ability against Blackpool - and as a Finland Under-16 international, Severino could be a potential star of the future.
