Derby continued their ascent to the top of the table on Tuesday evening, defeating fellow promotion hopefuls QPR by a 1-0 scoreline.
The win moved the Rams into fifth place, and to within just one point of the top of the table, as Hull, Burnley and Brighton all sit on 31 points.
The Rams are on equal points with Middlesbrough, but sit behind them on goal difference.
Derby secured the victory courtesy of a goal from Andreas Weimann, the Austrian forward who arrived at the iPro Stadium over the summer from Aston Villa.
It was Weimann’s second goal of the season, and he has now scored in consecutive games for the Rams, and looks to finally be living up to his potential with the club.
Many were shocked that Villa were willing to let the 24-year-old leave over the summer, but Weimann’s decision to swap Aston Villa for Derby looks to finally be paying off, with consistent first-team football in a team likely to be fighting at the top of the Championship table for much of the season.
Following the game over QPR, Derby fans took to Twitter to react to the victory, praising Weimann’s performance and his recent form.
