Danny Murphy gives his verdict on Aston Villa’s survival chances

Danny Murphy does not fancy Aston Villa to retain their Premier League status for next season.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning that he does not expect Aston Villa to remain in the Premier League next season.

"I would not put 10p on them staying up, to be honest, but I have been proven wrong many times," said Murphy.

Villa have been poor all season and are in real danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the campaign.

The Villans are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with just four points from 11 matches, four points behind 17th-place Bournemouth.

New manager Remi Garde has a tough task on his hand, and he will have to hit the ground running.

Villa, who lost 3-1 to Tottenham away from home at White Hart Lane in North London on Monday evening, will face Manchester City at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

City are at the top of the league table and will be huge favourites to win the game on Sunday.
