Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been quoted as saying by the club’s official Twitter page that his side were defensively poor against Bayern Munich this evening.
The Gunners suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat to Bayern away from home in Germany in the Champions League Group F.
The North London outfit are now fourth in the group with three points from four matches, six points behind Bayern and Olympiakos, who are first and second respectively.
Wenger has bemoaned Arsenal’s struggles at the back against Pep Guardiola's team, but he believes that his side can still progress to the last 16 of the Champions League this season.
Wenger: "You have to give credit to Bayern for their quality but we made things easy for them. We were extremely poor defensively." #BAYvAFC— Arsenal FC (@Arsenal) November 4, 2015
Boss: "There is still a chance to qualify. It's a small chance but there is still a real one." #BAYvAFC— Arsenal FC (@Arsenal) November 4, 2015
Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Wednesday evening, Arsenal had just 31% of the possession, took seven shots of which two were on target, and earned only one corner.
The Gunners will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they face North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.
