Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen sends message after 100th Premier League appearance

The Tottenham Hotspur star was celebrating more than just a win earlier this week.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has taken to Twitter to celebrate making his 100th Premier League appearance for the club.

It was a night to remember for the right reasons with Tottenham running out 3-1 winners courtesy of goals from Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli and Harry Kane, and while Vertonghen could not help his side to a clean sheet the victory was all that really mattered.

The Belgian international has developed a fine domestic partnership with his international teammate Toby Alderweireld since the latter signed from Atletico Madrid in the summer; and at this rate Tottenham are genuine top-four contenders who will know a few slip ups could even see them challenging for the title given the topsy-turvy nature of this season’s competition.

That may be beyond Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the short term but whatever happens, Vertonghen is simply focusing on the next game.

Next up for Spurs is a Europa League group match and writing on Twitter on Monday, the Tottenham centre-back said, “Happy to celebrate my first 100 in the Premier League with a win; up to Anderlecht now.”
