Gary Gardner has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at making an appearance for the Aston Villa Under-21 side on Monday evening.
The 23-year-old midfielder featured in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League match against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
The former England Under-21 international is recovering from an ankle injury, and he is glad to be on the mend.
However, Gardner is disappointed with the Villa first-team’s result on Monday evening - they lost 3-1 to Tottenham Hotspur away from home at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.

Villa are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with four points from 11 matches.
The Villans are four points behind 17th-place Bournemouth and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Villa will take on Manchester City at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
