Freddie Woodman has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at making an appearance for the Newcastle United Under-21 side on Monday evening.
The 18-year-old goalkeeper started the Barclays Under-21 Premier League against Aston Villa at St. James’ Park.
Peter Beardsley’s side ran out 2-0 winners against their Villa counterparts, thanks to two late goals from Callum Roberts.
England Under-19 international goalkeeper Woodman was delighted with his team’s performance and was happy to keep a clean sheet.
Nice to get a game tonight for the 21s. Good result and a nice clean sheet ! #nufc— Freddie Woodman (@41Woodman41) November 2, 2015
Woodman is the only goalkeeper available for Newcastle’s Premier League game against Bournemouth away from home on Saturday afternoon.
Tim Krul, Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot are all injured, which means that there is a chance that Magpies head coach Steve McClaren could decide to put Woodman between the posts at the Vitality Stadium.
What do Newcastle fans think of that? Below are some of their best comments on Twitter:
