Derby County boss Paul Clement discusses how he'll replace George Thorne against Queens Park Rangers

Derby County take on Queens Park Rangers in Championship action later this evening.

Paul Clement has kept coy about his plans to replace George Thorne on Derby County’s official site.

Thorne is out suspended for Derby’s match against Queens Park Rangers later this evening, meaning that Clement has a void to fill in his midfield area.

And Clement is confident that the Rams will have enough strength in depth to replace in the former West Bromwich Albion man, despite his good form of late.

“We have a strong squad and a strong midfield group,” Clement said.

“I haven’t decided what to do but I can either change formation or bring someone else in - so that’s a decision I have to make.

“I’ll mull over it and speak to the coaching staff to see what the best option is to get us that victory.”

Thorne has been one of Derby’s most impressive performers throughout the season so far, and his performances have helped Clement’s side turn their campaign around.

After making a slow start, Derby have started to show why they were tipped to be one of the favourites for promotion in recent weeks, and are climbing the Championship table rapidly.

The Rams have gone unbeaten in their last nine matches, and go into tonight’s match against QPR having won five of their last six games.

Another win against a struggling R’s side could take them into the top two, and that will push them even closer to achieving their aim of getting promoted this season.
