Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas has predicted on Skysports.com that Manchester City will suffer a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla away from home in Spain in the Champions League Group D on Tuesday evening.
“It's going to be quite a high-tempo, squeezing game from Sevilla they are really dangerous at set-plays,” the former Scotland international wrote on Skysports.com.
“At home they're a robust side and it's at hostile environment. I think it's going to be a real rocky night for City and I think Sevilla will get the points.”
A footnote added: “Charlie predicts: 2-1 and Gameiro to score first."
City will head into Tuesday evening’s match at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in Seville on the back of a narrow 2-1 victory over Norwich City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are second in Group D at the moment with six points from three matches.
Reigning Italian champions Juventus are at the top of the group with seven points, while Sevilla are third with three.
A draw in Seville will not be a bad result for City, but a defeat could be damaging especially as Sevilla are a very good side who can win their final two group games.
City can qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League with two matches to spare if they win against Sevilla and if Juve beat Borussia Monchengladbach in the other fixture on Tuesday.
