Forestieri joined the Owls from Watford in the summer transfer window, and he has wasted no time making an impression in his new surroundings.
The Argentine has scored four times in eight appearances for Wednesday, and he netted the winner in their latest match against Nottingham Forest.
And Carvalhal said: "Fernando is more than just goals. He is a fantastic player but he plays all the time for the team.
“Everyone in the team knows we have to play for each other and that the team comes first, which is why I value everybody’s workrate as much as their contribution to scoring goals.”
Forestieri’s arrival at Wednesday have increased their attacking threat considerably, and he has helped the team improve their form.
The Yorkshire side stumbled out of the blocks, but they are into their stride now – and look to be one of the contenders for promotion.
Carvalhal’s men have gone unbeaten in their last 10 games in all competitions, and this run has included beating the likes of Newcastle United and Arsenal in the League Cup.
The Owls have also moved up to eighth place in the Championship table, and they are only one point away from the play-off places.
