Bayern Munich midfielder Thaigo Alcantara says Arsenal will not go to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday and play so defensively as they need to score goals, the Daily Star report.
The Gunners head into their clash with the German giants confident in their abilities, after becoming the first team to overcome Pep Guardiola’s men in 90 minutes this season.
That 2-0 victory at the Emirates was about more than just keeping their Champions League progression hopes alive, it gave Arsene Wenger’s men real belief in their ability to beat the world’s best teams.
In spite of all the positivity coming out of North London, however, their chances of reaching the last 16 are still fairly slim, and they know defeat in Munich could leave them hanging by a thread.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, former Barcelona man Thiago insists the Gunners won’t go on the defensive as they need to look for goals in order to claim a positive result.
"We have no particular pressure on us tomorrow. The important thing is that we realise how Arsenal play, then we can be aware of it,” the midfielder said.
"Both teams have to score goals, so Arsenal will not be so defensive like the others. We know that we are playing against one of the best teams in Europe, but we have the chance to bring back the three points."
The Bayern clash is just stage one of what is a huge week for Arsenal.
After their encounter with the Bundesliga leaders, whatever happens they will need to quickly regroup and focus for the North London derby with Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
